Product innovation made possible in a growing pharmaceuticals market

24 February 2015

A global aging population coupled with the desire to find cures for chronic diseases has seen the life sciences sector grow substantially year on year. Sales in Europe were calculated at $224.3 billion by Deloite in 2012 who have even estimated at 2.4% rise in average spending on healthcare for Western Europe between 2014-18.

All this is good news for product design consultancies like the GX Group who work with pharmaceutical and life science companies to design and develop a wide range of innovative and cost-effective instruments, machines and products. At the forthcoming BioWales Conference due to be held at the Wales Millennium centre in Cardiff on March 4 and 5, the company will be exhibiting some of the innovative medical products they have helped design.

The GX Group has an inhouse team of highly skilled, product designers, GX Design Engineers. It is through their multi-disciplinary approach and their expertise marrying biotechnology knowledge with pioneering technology that they have been able to design products that deliver both innovation and value. The problem of capturing DNA to analyse samples when in the field was solved by the design engineering team who developed a millifluidic cartridge - the Lysis Cartridge.

Visitors to the BioWales Conference will be able to view these groundbreaking cartridges along with a medical training device which is being manufactured economically thanks the product refinement of the initial design that the team at GX Design Engineers undertook.

Manning the GX Group stand will be managing director, Mark Helmich, accompanied by Claire Banks, the business development manager GX Design Engineers. “We at GX Design Engineers appreciate the challenge that life science companies face in turning their brilliant and innovative ideas into commercial products,” notes Mark. “We remain committed to designing medical and pharmaceutical products that not only can help transform lives but that are economical to produce. Our flexible and committed project management ensures we can lead a product through the difficult routes to market.”
