Perfecting the work life balance

The Small Workplace Health Award

In a bid to create a better work life balance the Welsh Government has set up ‘Healthy Working Wales’ - a partnership scheme with Public Health Wales and Cardiff University to promote health and well being amongst employees. Companies, like GX work through various levels of the ‘Small Workplace Health Award’, starting at bronze, working up through silver, gold, then finally to Platinum.

The focus of each level varies, but essentially the idea is to help improve health in the workplace through initiatives developed by nominated Workplace Health Practitioners. At GX the scheme is being led by Nick Broad, Operations Manager, with the support of Claire Banks, GX‘s Business Development Manager and Eve Bowen from the administration team.

Together the team is seeking ways to boost staff morale and improve productivity, along with identifying any possible risks to health and safety in a bid to reduce accidents. Since the award scheme is a continuous journey, GX must complete the initial bronze stage before progressing to subsequent levels.

Commenting up the scheme, managing director Mark Helmich said; “Our workforce is at the heart of our business; they spend a great deal of time nurturing ideas for clients to design commercially viable products. This project is a perfect way to ensure that we are nurturing them and doing everything that we can to create a happy and healthy environment to work in.”
