Celebrating International Women in Engineering Day: Spotlight on Angela Hastings
23 June 2026This International Women in Engineering Day, on Tuesday 23rd June, we are proud to celebrate the talented women who help drive innovation and excellence across GX.
The day serves as an opportunity to recognise the achievements of women in engineering, inspire future generations, and highlight the important role women play in shaping the industry. At GX, we are fortunate to have a number of skilled and dedicated women within our team, including Design Engineer Angela Hastings, whose passion for engineering and commitment to continuous learning make her a valued member of the business.
Angela's engineering journey began as an apprentice engineer and has seen her develop a wealth of experience across a variety of disciplines, including manufacturing, toolmaking, maintenance and design. Throughout her career, she has worked in sectors as diverse as defence, automotive, electronics, manufacturing, and oil and gas, building an impressive range of technical skills and knowledge along the way. Since joining GX in 2021, Angela has played an important role in the design and manufacture of bespoke engineering products, creating solutions tailored to the unique requirements of each client. She thrives on the variety and challenges that come with specialist engineering projects and enjoys working as part of what she describes as a "fantastic team where everyone is passionate about what they do."
Angela's interest in engineering started at a young age when she would help her dad fix things around the house. Curious by nature, she was always keen to get involved, and that early fascination grew into a rewarding and successful career. Angelan said “I have always been interested in engineering as a child, so it was a natural progression for me to study at college as part of an apprenticeship. The industry has changed a lot since I started, with women not facing the barriers I faced. I would just say to anyone considering engineering as a career to go for it, get involved and have a go”.
On International Women in Engineering Day, we are proud to recognise Angela's achievements and thank her for the expertise, enthusiasm and dedication she brings to GX. Her career demonstrates the many opportunities engineering can offer and serves as an inspiration to the next generation of women considering a future in the industry.
